Strengthening Supplier Systems and Data Foundations
Client : India’s leading online grocery and quick commerce platform
Challenge
Their rapid scale-up in quick commerce exposed gaps in its supplier onboarding, data management, and system integrations:
- Supplier onboarding lacked robust validations, leading to compliance and audit risks.
- Legacy MySQL-based systems struggled with supplier invoicing and financial accuracy.
- Manual processes in inventory replenishment caused operational inefficiencies and errors.
These challenges created bottlenecks in supply chain efficiency, increased compliance risk, and limited scalability.
Recro Developer Deployment
Recro deployed a Senior Software Engineer into their dynamic cross-functional team, working directly with a Principal Engineer.
Approach & Contributions
He contributed across three major initiatives:
- Supplier Onboarding Re-architecture - Designed and implemented new backend APIs with validations for GST, PAN, bank accounts.
- Built optimized database structures (composite tables) to eliminate redundant supplier records.
- Improved audit readiness and reduced financial/payment errors.

- Database Migration to Oracle (Invoicing System) - Led migration from AWS MySQL (RDS) to Oracle for supplier invoicing.
- Created data migration scripts, dumps, and CDC (Change Data Capture) pipelines with retry logic to ensure real-time sync.
- Secured financial data consistency across systems, critical given their large supplier base.

- SaaS Pilot for Supply Chain Management - Developed modules for a pilot SaaS solution aimed at mid-sized distributors and local retail chains.
- Enabled inventory ordering, supplier connectivity, and fulfillment through a plug-and-play system.

Impact
- Reduced Onboarding Errors: New validation checks drastically minimized supplier data issues at the source.
- Audit & Compliance Readiness: Automated checks for GST/PAN and banking improved regulatory alignment.
- Improved Financial Accuracy: Oracle integration ensured greater consistency in supplier invoicing and payments.
- Operational Efficiency: Database restructuring reduced redundancy and streamlined supplier management.
Developer Perspective
“Inventory management is the most sensitive part of quick commerce. Even a minor mismatch can erode client trust. By redesigning supplier onboarding and ensuring data accuracy, we’re building a stronger foundation for scale. I also see AI-driven automation as the future — particularly in replenishment, where manual order placement slows everything down.”
Future Outlook
He highlighted AI opportunities in:
- Automating replenishment orders (reducing manual spreadsheets & errors).
- Demand forecasting to predict seasonal product spikes.
- Intelligent training & rollouts to reduce operational friction across fulfillment centers.
Key Learnings
- Retail/quick commerce firms are increasingly shifting from outsourced vendor systems to in-house builds for control and customization.
- Success depends not just on tech, but on process adoption and ground-level training.
- AI adoption will accelerate supply chain optimization, particularly in replenishment and inventory prediction.
